
Shireesha Dhanireddy named Associate Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Shireesha Dhanireddy, professor (Allergy and Infectious Diseases) has been named UW Medicine’s Associate Chief Medical Officer effective July 1, 2025.
In this role, she will provide strategic physician leadership in the design, development, and integration of system-wide initiatives across UW Medicine, with a particular emphasis on advancing clinical excellence and quality of care within the ambulatory setting.
“Dr. Dhanireddy brings a deep commitment to exceptional patient care and mitigation of barriers that result in healthcare inequities,“ said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anneliese Schleyer. “She has focused her career on building innovative and inclusive clinical, educational and administrative programs.”
She serves as a primary care physician for persons living with HIV and as a specialist in infectious diseases at Harborview Medical Center. Her leadership experience includes serving as Medical Director of the Madison Clinic, which provides comprehensive HIV care. She is also the co-founder of the S.H.E. (Safe. Healthy. Empowered.) Clinic, which delivers trauma-informed, low-barrier primary care to women experiencing homelessness.
Dhanireddy has been with UW Medicine for 26 years since joining as a resident in internal medicine followed by an infectious diseases fellowship. She completed medical school at Georgetown University. She is board certified in internal medicine, infectious diseases and addiction medicine.
