Jason Dominitz receives Distinguished Service Award

Dr. Jason Dominitz, professor (Gastroenterology) is the 2024 recipient of the  Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).

The Distinguished Service Award is an honorary award presented to an individual who has made long-term contributions to GI endoscopy and is a strong supporter of the mission of the society.

The ASGE honorary awards stand as a symbol of the highest levels of achievement. They recognize those who have consistently pushed boundaries with their remarkable contributions, from groundbreaking research that has changed the trajectory of our understanding, to exceptional patient care demonstrating unparalleled compassion and skill, to innovative educational initiatives that shape the futures of budding practitioners.

As Executive Director for Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the VA, Dominitz leads over one thousand VA gastroenterologists and hepatologists across the nation and has created new programs for colonoscopy quality assurance.

He is a nationally recognized leader in the field of colorectal cancer screening, serving on the US Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer and as the VA representative to the National Colorectal Cancer Round Table. He is Co-Chair of a VA research study comparing screening colonoscopy to annual stool-based screening for colorectal cancer in over 50,000 Veterans.
