Dr. Mary (Nora) Disis, professor (Hematology and Oncology) is the 2024 recipient of the Creative Invention Award by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
She is being recognized for her work in developing vaccines for the prevention and treatment of cancers.
Disis is the founder and director of the University of Washington Cancer Vaccine Institute.
What if…vaccines could end cancer?
Dr. Disis is also presenting “What if…vaccines could end cancer?” on Nov. 9, at 1pm. as part of a three-part series focused on groundbreaking UW research. She will discuss using the immune system to destroy cancer, and how vaccines can effectively kill it.
