Ruth Sanchez new assistant director of Medicine Student Programs
We are pleased to welcome Ruth Sanchez to the Department of Medicine as our new Assistant Director of Medicine Student Programs. Ruth is succeeding Kathi Sleavin who was in the position for 12 years before retiring in April 2021.
Ruth will lead the Medicine Student Programs team in the planning and oversight of the department’s required medicine clerkship, subinternships, advanced patient care electives, electives, non-clinical electives, preceptorships, and undergraduate research elective serving over 900 UW and visiting medical students.
Ruth joins us from Houston, Texas where she has worked for over 20 years in academic medicine. For the last 5 years, she has served as a project manager for medical student programs for the Texas A&M Partnership at the Houston Methodist Hospital. Prior to that, she held several positions within the Baylor College of Medicine over her almost 15 year tenure. Ruth received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and her MBA from Amberton University.
