David Dichek receives Outstanding Research Mentor Award
Dr. David Dichek, professor (Division of Cardiology) has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Outstanding Research Mentor Award.
Each year, Undergraduate Research Symposium presenters are given an opportunity to nominate their mentor for the Outstanding Research Mentor Award. Nominations are considered by a small review committee of faculty and staff. Faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and research staff are all eligible for nomination.
“Dr. Dichek is an outstanding mentor because of his commitment to developing his students into well-rounded scientists...Whenever I begin a new project, I am confident that I will be given a balance of independence and guidance that will ultimately maximize my learning. I also appreciate that Dr. Dichek is eager to obtain students’ input at lab meetings and encourages us to question ideas we don’t understand. I am inspired by his commitment to rigorous research and feel that he is a key factor in my choice to pursue a scientific career path.”
