Fionnuala Cormack new associate program director for Nephrology Fellowship
As Associate Program Director, Dr. Fionnuala Cormack will work closely with Dr. Paine, the Program Director, to support every aspect of the ACGME Nephrology Fellowship, with a special focus on career mentoring of fellows and supporting scholarship by the ACGME fellows.
Cormack received her undergraduate education and medical schooling at the University of Chicago before joining the University of Washington as an intern. After completing her residency, she served in the role of Chief Medical Resident at the University of Washington-affiliated hospital in Boise, ID. She returned to Seattle as a Nephrology fellow and underwent three years of training that included two years pursuing laboratory research. After a one-year sojourn to El Paso, TX, Cormack returned to Seattle in 2009 to join the faculty in the division of Nephrology as an Acting Instructor. She has risen through the ranks and is currently holds the rank of Clinical Associate Professor.
Cormack brings tremendous strengths and experience to this role. She has served as the Director of the UW dialysis program, and she now leads the Nephrology efforts at UW Stone Center, and is the Section Head of UWMC’s NW Campus. She is a gifted educator, and the fellows recognized her with the Teacher of the Year award for the 2019 - 2020 academic year.
