Expanding equitable research participation: Development of practice guidelines for prison and jail health research policies
Dr. Helen Jack, assistant professor (General Internal Medicine) is co-PI on Greenwall Foundation Making a Difference Grant for the project “Expanding equitable research participation: Development of practice guidelines for prison and jail health research policies.”
People who are incarcerated are often excluded from health research, leading to gaps in knowledge for how to best care for this population. Many prisons and jails have policies that govern what research can take place within their facilities, and these policies are an important way that carceral health research is regulated.
Through this grant funding, the researchers will develop best practices for carceral facility research policies, providing a resource that jails and prisons around the country can use to govern research.
