Melissa Winckler, teaching associate (Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine) is the 2026 recipient of the Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence Award for Outstanding Primary Palliative Care Education.

This regional award recognizes outstanding teaching related to serious illness care, both by palliative care specialists and by the many generalist clinicians who provide and teach excellent primary palliative care across the WWAMI region.

She was selected for her compassionate care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, as an outstanding educator who provides a "formative experience" for fellows on their rotation on the Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant ICU, and as a champion of the 3 Wishes Program, that supports compassionate end-of-life care.
