Drs. Stephen Plymate, professor (Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine) and Wes Van Voorhis, professor (Allergy and Infectious Diseases) have received a Washington Entrepreneurial Research Evaluation and Commercialization Hub (WE-REACH) award.

Their team developed a small molecule first-in-class-therapeutic to treat castrate-resistant prostate cancer, a form of prostate cancer for which current therapies have limited efficacy.

WE-REACH is an NIH supported network of public-private partnerships accelerating the translation of biomedical discoveries into commercially viable products to improve patient care and enhance health.

Dr. Plymate studies prostate cancer and its treatment.

Dr. Van Voorhis studies drug discovery and development for bacterial and parasitic diseases, particularly cryptosporidium and malaria.
