Dr. Luke Wander, associate professor (General Internal Medicine) is the new PI of the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS) Seattle clinic. She takes over from Dr. Steven Kahn who served as PI of the Seattle clinic for over 20 years. Kahn will continue as a co-I and co-chair of the DPPOS Quality Control committee.

The DPPOS aims to assess the long-term effects of interventions used in the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) on the development of type 2 diabetes and its complications.

Eighty-eight percent of all surviving DPP participants who were eligible joined the DPPOS. This groundbreaking research has served as the largest and longest running study on lifestyle interventions for the prevention of type 2 diabetes.
