Margaret Walker recognized as Distinguished Fellow of the AAPA
Margaret Walker, teaching associate (Gastroenterology) has been recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of PAs (AAPA).
Walker earned this national recognition due to her outstanding contributions to patient care and significant dedication to and involvement in the Seattle/Tacoma communities.
A lifelong learner, she graduated with a Bachelor of Clinical Health Sciences from the UW MEDEX Northwest PA Program, Anchorage Class 1 (2011), and a Masters of Science in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies (2016) and Doctor of Medical Science (2021), from A.T. Still University (ATSU).
She has also earned the UW CLIME Clinical Teaching certificate and has created a syllabus for onboarding/training new GI APPS. She is a preceptor for PA students and volunteers at the UW MEDEX Northwest PA program.
An advocate for the Washington State PA profession, she often volunteers for PA Day on the Hill in Olympia to meet with senators and representatives to discuss bills that pertain to the PA profession and patient care.
She is involved in several national GI organizations and has served on the American College of Gastroenterology APP committee to help develop training modules for APP members.
The Distinguished Fellow program was established by AAPA in 2007 to recognize the exceptional contributions of PAs to the profession through professional achievement, leadership, professional interaction, learning, and community service.
PAs are medical professionals who diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s principal healthcare provider. With thousands of hours of medical training, PAs are versatile and collaborative.
Educated at least at the master’s degree level, PAs practice in every state and in every medical setting and specialty, improving healthcare access and quality.
