Dr. Matthew Triplette, associate professor (Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine) is a PI on a new UG3/UH3 grant titled “Expanding Lung Cancer Screening to Achieve Excellence.”

This 6-year, over $7 million grant supports the design and implementation of a large-scale randomized controlled trial involving over 60 clinics. The trial will evaluate multi-level strategies aimed at improving lung cancer screening uptake and follow-up within a nationally representative sample of Federally Qualified Health Centers.

Part of the broader SUMMIT initiative, this study will fund approximately three investigator-initiated trials focused on lung cancer screening and three on tobacco cessation. All studies will incorporate harmonized data elements, with the goal of meaningfully advancing national lung cancer screening metrics and informing policy.
