Dr. Alex Tanabe, clinical instructor (General Internal Medicine) is the 2025 recipient of the C. Scott Smith Community Teacher of the Year Award.
This award is named in honor of Dr. C. Scott Smith, an outstanding teacher, mentor and researcher, whose commitment to improving primary care access and quality in Idaho and developing generations of excellent internists has placed the Boise VA and the Boise IM Program at the cutting edge of evidence-based medicine and interprofessional team practice.
The criteria for this award are a deep enthusiasm for and excellence in teaching, and using evidence-based medicine in clinical care.
