UW medical educators were awarded $2.5M by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to expand training for internal medicine residents caring for people experiencing homelessness.

The project, called UW Street Medicine Training Program, will be implemented over the next 5 years and includes partnerships with numerous community organizations and homeless service providers. Residents will have additional didactic and clinical experiences including a specific pathway for those with particular interest in homeless health care.

Dr. Jocelyn James, associate professor (General Internal Medicine) will serve as project director. Other key personnel are Drs. Jared Klein and Aynsley Duncan and additional faculty include Drs. James Darnton, Judith Tsui, Russell Berg, Sriyama Josyula, and Nancy Connolly.
