Michael Lenaeus new program director for research and scholarship

He is a physician in the hospital medicine group at UW Medical Center-Montlake and an outstanding teacher and clinician who also has a PhD and does basic science research in cardiology and cardiovascular pharmacology.

Dr. Michael Lenaeus, assistant professor (General Internal Medicine) will be associate program director for research and scholarship for the UW Seattle Internal Medicine Residency Program, effective July 1, 2024.

Lenaeus is a physician in the hospital medicine group at UW Medical Center - Montlake, and was an inpatient chief resident at Montlake in 2013-14.

He is an outstanding teacher and clinician who also has a PhD and does basic science research in cardiology and cardiovascular pharmacology.

His research is on voltage-gated sodium channels in the heart. The primary focus is on the determination of the molecular basis of action for Class I anti-arrhythmic drugs, which are sodium channel blockers used to treat arrhythmias in both acute and chronic settings.
