Congratulations to Dr. Mary-Claire King, professor (Medical Genetics) who has received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from New York University.
King was recognized as part of NYU’s 2026 honorary degree recipients for her groundbreaking contributions to genetics, including discovering that inherited mutations in the BRCA1 gene significantly increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Her work has transformed cancer research and care and has also pioneered the use of DNA sequencing for human rights investigations around the world.
