HIV and Aging Research Consortium

Drs. Heidi Crane, professor (Allergy and Infectious Diseases) and William Lober (Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education) are MPIs of a newly funded 5-year continuation of a National Institute on Aging R33 HIV and Aging Research Consortium (HARC) award to support researchers, particularly early-stage investigators, at the intersection of HIV and aging research.

This is a large-scale collaboration across multiple national networks including Centers for AIDS Research, Nathan Shock Centers, Pepper Older Americans Independence Centers, and McKnight Brain Institutes. The award will help advance the science of aging, build infrastructure and interdisciplinary collaborations to develop and support emerging investigators focused on HIV and aging, and enhance and accelerate investigation at the interface of HIV and aging.

Additional UW investigators include Joseph Delaney (General Internal Medicine), Rob Fredericksen, Mari Kitahata, and Carolyn Fahey (Allergy and Infectious Diseases), and Lydia Drumright (School of Nursing).
