Leah Haseley receives Marvin Turck Outstanding Teaching Award
Congratulations to Dr. Leah Haseley, clinical professor (Nephrology), this year’s recipient of the Marvin Turck Outstanding Teaching Award.
This is a career achievement award to honor individuals whose long-term contributions have defined departmental standards for patient care and teaching and made the University of Washington an outstanding educational institution.
The award is named for Dr. Marvin Turck, whose energy, enthusiastic teaching, remarkable clinical knowledge, humor, and support for students, housestaff, fellows, and faculty have inspired trainees and faculty for decades.
Dr. Haseley came to the University of Washington in 1997 and has been working at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) since 1998, initially moonlighting as a research fellow. She was appointed as a member of the clinical faculty in 2000, and rose through the ranks to clinical professor in 2017. She is currently the section head of Nephrology at HMC.
She is a gifted educator who has been recognized as Teacher of the Year by the fellows in the Division of Nephrology nine times and has previously received the prestigious Beeson Award, presented by the internal medicine residents to recognize outstanding clinical teaching.
