SGIM Meeting 2021 – UW GIM Recap

The 2021 annual meeting of the Society of General Internal Medicine was held entirely virtually April 20–23. The theme was “Transforming Values into Action.” Over 2,000 SGIM members attended, including many of our own UW GIM faculty.

In addition to giving oral presentations, Associate Professor Dr. Joshua Liao co-authored three posters, two of them with Dr. Leah Marcotte, the association medical director for Population Health. Dr. Liao was also a finalist for “Best Health Equity Oral Abstract.”

Associate Professors Paul Cornia and Kay Johnson co-presented with others “Clinical Update in Perioperative Medicine.” The Curbsiders podcast included “top pearls” from the session in their episode “#270 SGIM 2021: The Highlight Reel.”

Professor Stephan Fihn was presented with the ACLGIM Division Chief's Recognition Award, which is given annually to the GIM Division Chief who most represents excellence in Division leadership. View his acceptance video.
