We are pleased to announce ABIM approval for the launch of an official Integrated Geriatric and Palliative fellowship.

This two-year program leads to board certification in both specialties and allows for up to eight months of protected time for scholarship and development as a leader.

Dr. Kate Bennett, associate professor (Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine) will be program director, along with Dr. Lianne Hirano, clinical associate professor. Dr. Gina Kang, clinical assistant professor, will be the faculty lead for the track.

"At this time when healthcare for older adults and those with serious illness needs rapid improvement, this program is set to provide the training needed to have the greatest impact," said Bennett.

"We have a long track record of collaboration between the two fellowship programs (Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine), so are eager to take this to the next level to provide this fully integrated training.

The combination of geriatrics and palliative medicine, leadership training, and academic skills will graduate trainees who have exponential impact on the lives of older adults in our health system, region, and nation."

Applications are currently being accepted for a July 2025 start.
