Excellence in Mentoring Faculty Awards

Drs. Jose Garcia, professor and interim head (Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine) and Rachel Issaka, associate professor (Gastroenterology) are the 2026 recipients of the Committee for Mentoring & Faculty Advocacy (CMFA) Excellence in Mentoring Faculty Awards.

This award recognizes the need for excellence in mentoring faculty members from communities underrepresented in medicine and science.

They will be presented with the award at the CMFA Fall Welcome on Oct. 27, 5:30-7:30pm, at the Waterfront Activity Center.
