Dr. John Scott, professor (Allergy and Infectious Diseases) accepted the 2023 Excellence Award on behalf of the University of Washington during the MetaEcho Global Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The UW was honored for our pioneering work as the first Project ECHO outside New Mexico and collaborations in Africa.

Launched in 2009 as one of only two in the nation, UW Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a revolutionary guided-practice model that reduces health disparities in underserved and remote areas of the state, nation and world.

The MetaECHO 2023 Global Conference brought together over nine hundred ECHO partner teams, global health policy experts, government officials, academic leaders, and funders to increase the ECHO movement's momentum for sustainable change.

The conference celebrated twenty years of Project ECHO, acknowledged the significant role the ECHO network played in the global COVID-19 response, and announced the inaugural ECHO Excellence Awards.
