Dr. Mary (Nora) Disis, professor (Hematology and Oncology) is the recipient of a 2025 Brava! Award from the Women’s University Club of Seattle

The Brava! Awards honor Women of Excellence in Washington state who have made an impact by their service to others. University of Washington president Ana Mari Cauce was also honored, along with board advisor Phyllis Campbell.

Through her research, Disis has pioneered new approaches to harness the immune system to prevent and treat cancer, and her tireless advocacy has opened many doors for women in science and medicine.

During her remarks at the banquet, hosted at the Women’s University Club in downtown Seattle, she shared her "Four F's" - the four keys to her career success and happiness: fortitude, focus, fearlessness, and fun. These principles offered a glimpse into her journey of discovering meaning through science, a message that deeply resonated with the young scholars and fellow honorees present in the room.
