Amelia Davis receives Richard Saitz Acheivement Award
Dr. Amelia Davis, chief medical resident, is a recipient of the Richard Saitz, MD, MPH Achievement Award from Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine.
She is being recognized for her Substance Use Teaching Project (SUTP). Her work involved developing addiction medicine Academic Half Day sessions for internal medicine residents, strengthening their core understanding of harm reduction principles, and enhancing their skills in managing substance use disorders in the outpatient setting.
The curriculum also emphasized key topics such as structural racism in drug policy, stimulant use disorder, and harm reduction strategies. Moving forward, she intends to expand this work by addressing alcohol use disorder and outpatient treatment options for opioid use disorder, including home-based buprenorphine inductions.
