National Minority Health MonthNational Minority Health Month is a dedicated time to bring attention to inequities in healthcare access and disparities in health outcomes experienced by racial and ethnic minority communities, as well as promote initiatives that work to improve the health of diverse communities.

The 2022 NMHM theme is Give Your Community a Boost! As noted by the HHS Office of Minority Health, COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster, is one of the strongest tools we have to end the COVID-19 pandemic that has disproportionately affected communities of color.

DOM Health Equity Work

Health equity is a core value throughout the clinical and research programs of our department and for each of our faculty. Many projects throughout the department aim to expand access to prevention, diagnosis and treatment for underserved groups, as well as to better understand unique barriers and limitations to felt by minority communities, including language barriers and bias in care settings.

Explore a snapshot of the breadth of health equity work by Dept of Medicine faculty and trainees on our website.
