UW researchers have received a Development Project Award from the University of Washington Alzheimer's Disease Research Center for their project, “The Assessment of Functional Communication in Primary Progressive Aphasia.”
This project seeks to establish a holistic, strengths-based, and minimally taxing measure of functional communication to enhance individualized care and optimize the functional impact of clinical recommendations for people living with primary progressive aphasia, a rare neurodegenerative condition.
Dr. Jeanne Gallée, postdoctoral scholar (General Internal Medicine) is PI and co-investigators from the Department of Medicine are Drs. Paul Crane, professor (General Internal Medicine) and Rob Fredricksen, research assistant professor (Allergy and Infectious Diseases). Dr. Kimiko Domoto-Reilly (Neurology) is also co-investigator.
