Awards
Harriet P. Dustan Award for Outstanding Work in Science as Related to Medicine
Dr. Fred Appelbaum, professor (Hematology and Oncology)
One of ACP’s highest scientific honors, this award recognizes individuals whose contributions to science have achieved national or international distinction.
Jane F. Desforges Distinguished Teacher Award
Dr. Joyce Wipf, professor emeritus (General Internal Medicine)
The award is given to a Fellow or Master of the ACP who has demonstrated the ennobling qualities of a great teacher as judged by the accomplishments of former students.
Masterships
MACPs make up a small group of highly accomplished physicians who have been selected because of personal character, positions of honor, contributions toward furthering the purposes of the ACP, eminence in practice or in medical research, or other attainments in science or in the art of medicine.
Evidence of their achievements can come from many types of endeavors, such as research, education, health care initiatives, volunteerism, and administrative positions. Recipients of Mastership must be distinguished by the excellence and significance of their contributions to the field of medicine.
