Drs. Daniel To, fellow, Nicholas Johnson, professor (Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine) and Chen Liang (Dept. of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education) have received a pilot award from the UW Institute for Medical Data Science (IMDS) for the project, “Multimodal biosignal analysis for prediction of rearrest following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.”

This project aims to develop tools that can predict rearrest early enough to enable EMS intervention. Using ECG, capnography, and plethysmography data from defibrillators, they will apply data-driven methods to detect physiological signatures of impending rearrest that may not be apparent through conventional analysis.

The resulting tools will help EMS teams identify high-risk patients sooner and improve survival outcomes.
