Health Disparities Science: The Path Forward
The University of Washington Department of Medicine is proud to sponsor Dr. Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable as the speaker for our next Diversity Lecture Series on Jan. 22, 2026, from 12-1pm. He will present: "Health Disparities Science: The Path Forward."
Dr. Pérez-Stable is a Cuban American physician-scientist who spent decades contributing to medical practice and research before being appointed the second Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) in 2015.
His journey to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was shaped by distinctive experiences and collaborations, which prepared him to lead NIMHD in its mission to reduce health disparities and improve the health of minority and disadvantaged populations.
He was among four top officials formally let go or fired by the National Institutes of Health in October 2025.
