Washington Chapter ACP Awards
Congratulations to the following Department of Medicine members who received awards at the recent American College of Physicians (ACP) Washington state chapter meeting:
Washington Chapter Laureate Award
Dr. Anita Chopra, clinical assistant professor (General Internal Medicine)
The Laureate Award honors Fellows and Masters of the College who have demonstrated by their example and conduct an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education, or research and in service to their community, their Chapter, and the American College of Physicians.
Kemi Nakabayashi Chapter Service Award
Dr. Kim O'Connor, clinical professor (General Internal Medicine)
This annual award is in recognition of the member who has made significant contributions in volunteer service on behalf of the Washington ACP Chapter. Significant contributions include both the length and magnitude of service to the chapter as well as new, valuable chapter initiatives that a member advances.
Clinician-Educator of the Year
Dr. Daniel Yang, clinical associate professor (WWAMI-Spokane)
The full-time clinician-educator of the year award honors an academic-based internist considered to be a role model by his or her peers. Winners possess excellent clinical skills, dedication to patients, enthusiasm for medical practice, leadership, exceptional teaching and mentoring skills, and the ability to maintain humanity and a healthy balance between professional and personal interests that we can all strive to emulate. Recipients have shown a commitment to developing/disseminating academic work, regional and national recognition for teaching, publishing scientific research, and/or curriculum development.
