Nisha Bansal new Director of Nephrology Clinical and Research Education

Dr. Nisha Bansal, associate professor (Nephrology) has been appointed Director of Nephrology Clinical and Research Education (DoE). She will lead the integration and coordination of the division educational missions – the ACGME nephrology fellowship program, non-ACGME tracks (transplant, dialysis, or glomerular diseases, research training), and resident and medical student education. She will also serve as the primary liaison between the division and education leadership within the department, other divisions, and the School of Medicine.

Bansal joined the UW Division of Nephrology in 2013 after completing her fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco. In these past nine years, she has excelled as an educator and researcher.

As Associate Program Director for the Nephrology fellowship program, she has focused on recruiting fellows to the research track and the scholarly activity of our trainees.

She has mentored trainees at all stages of their career and chairs the Mentoring Committee for the Department of Medicine. She is the Principal Investigator for four R01s from the NIH and is the co-Principal Investigator for the Nephrology T32 training grant.

The American Society of Nephrology recently conferred the Distinguished Researcher Award to Dr. Bansal.
